Social and Learning Strategies at Home

Infant (0-1 year)

  • To prevent separation anxiety, let your baby know that you will be back (Sterling Honig & Wittmer, 2017, p. 1).
  • Parents need to practice a good relationship between themselves and their baby's childcare (Sterling Honig & Wittmer, 2017, p. 4).
  • Create a stress-free environment (Sterling Honig & Wittmer, 2017, p. 1).

Early Childhood (3-8 years) older youth

  • Show positive examples of friendship (University of Minnesota Extension, 2025).
  • Be a good role model in the interactions of other people (University of Minnesota Extension, 2025).

Adolescence (12-18 years)

  • Get to know who their friends are and the relationships (University of Minnesota Extension, 2025).
  • Teens still need to be taught self-regulation but based on their level (Slater, 2021, p. 2).
